In the end, all my messages and contacts were migrated….when I opened the Windows 8 Mail app, all of them were there and in the People app all my contacts were visible as well.Importing and Exporting in Windows Live Mail For me, it took a few hours since it was essentially sending thousands of messages. If you have a lot of messages and/or contacts, sit back and wait for it to sync. Do the same with your contacts, sent folder, deleted folder, etc. Once you have the account setup inside Outlook, simply drag all your Inbox messages from the old account and drop them into the Inbox of the new account that’s tied to. Outlook 2013 did not require the Hotmail Connector and allowed me to easily create a new account that was associated with my account.
If you are working in Outlook 2010, you will more than likely have to download and install the Hotmail Connector (search for it) in order to add an account tied to a web-based email account but it works with both Hotmail and accounts.
The new account you are creating inside Office Outlook will be associated with your account.
After that was created, I opened the Office version of Outlook (I’ve done this from within Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013) and add a new account. For example, I created a new account which I use with the Windows 8 Mail app. Instead, you need to drag and drop all the messages and contacts from one account to another while in the Office version of Outlook. You cannot import your emails and contacts from the PST file directly into the Windows 8 Mail app.
